United in Worship and Action

Unity is a key value for us at Springfield. Clearly, it is important to God too as it was the focus of Jesus’ last prayer before his arrest (John 17). We express our unity through community:

• We meet regularly together in smaller groups, sharing meals and our lives together (Acts 2:42).
• We are active in our wider communities, aiming to live out what God has done for us through sharing our lives with others who don’t know Him (John 13:34, 35; 1 Thessalonians 2:8).
• We come together in a weekly act of worship

We also recognise that God has made us with different gifts and passions. Unity does not mean uniformity - we celebrate our diversity and unite behind our core beliefs; encouraging one another to be all that God desires us to be.

Worship We believe that intimacy with the Father is not only possible but it is essential! Worship is central to this – it can take many forms and we encourage each other to explore different ways of drawing close to God. The Holy Spirit is fundamental in our worship as we believe that to truly worship we must be filled with the Spirit (John 4:23, 24) and when the Spirit is around, things happen! (Mark 16:17-20)

Action Faith without action is dead (James 2:14-26). In the Great Commission given by Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20) the first direction is “Go!”. We believe that following Jesus cannot be a passive thing. There are so many ways to be active and it is more than just a physical thing! We are active in:

• Prayer
• Worship
• Hospitality
• Maintaining unity
• Making a difference in our wider communities
• Encouraging one another
• Any other Holy Spirit inspired, Christ centred activity that brings people to the Father.
